Mt. Shasta Mall Book Faire of 2007
Another 4-Star Event
The Faire was held in Redding, California on November 10, it was a great success. Thousands of friendly faces strolled through the mall and window shopped, looking for something new to experience and read.
Today in Center Court there were tables full of books, readers walking about and authors ready to sell their wares. Center Court was busy with Redding Children’s Chorus, Artists exhibiting their impressive work, free raffles, and an Opening Sentence Writing contest.
I was privileged to be one of the 36 authors that came from all over Shasta County to display their books. There were student authors as young as 7, what talent! It was an inspiration. This years participating authors covered many genres: outdoor, mystery, crime, humor, poetry, children, romance and more.
My book Quest for Forgiveness sold out. When women realized it was about a woman in crisis, ‘the change’ they could relate to it and wanted to read it.
That phrase ‘the change’ evokes images of nightmarish symptoms; hot flashes, cold chills, alligator skin, and loss of memory and fits of manic moods. One moment you’re as sweet as candy and the next you are a frenzied manic who is going off the deep end.
My main character, Marlee Whittacre, is in the throes of ‘the change.’ Poor decisions are often made during this period and it is at this point that my book starts.
I anxiously wait for next years Book Faire. Hopefully by then I’ll have my sequel to Quest For Forgiveness finished. It’s called ‘In Search of the Locket” The primary character Marlee, goes to Egypt in search of a locket that holds a deadly secret.
It’s good. You gotta pick it up.
